We have just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Emerald, though not the one we had planned to do. Our flight was delayed so long in Norwich we missed the sailaway for the Pearls of the Aegean from Corfu. As we were "go as you please" for our second week we arranged to stay with friends a week early and Thomsons got us on board to do the Adriatic. After a wonky start it turned out to be a great holiday. The ship is old but she is lovely and kept spotlessly clean by the staff and crew who seem to work 24/7. The food is very good, especially in the Chanterelle restaurant, although we did make it to the midnight buffet on a couple of occasions and the food there was great too. The entertainment staff are very enthusiastic and we saw two great shows. The "I'm an entertainer, get me out of here" on the pool deck on Thursday afternoon was hilarious. Venice was wonderful and Dubrovnik is well worth a visit. We did the town wall walk, hard work in the heat but worth the effort for the views! Took us about 90 minutes as I am still recovering from a broken ankle. Not for the elderly, too many steps. The cabin was great for us two but probably cramped for four adults. Cleaned twice a day, with clean bed linen every day and clean towels twice a day. Beach towels are also provided. All in all another great cruise. Looking forward to the next one.
